Each lot is fitted with its own Hot Water (with meter) and separate gas supply (with meter) to provide gas to the cooktop and to the gas wall outlet (where applicable). This setup creates two gas supplies to your apartment.
Hot Water is metered to each unit (usually located under your laundry sink). The amount of HW you use vs other units is measured against a central meter in the basement. This percentage of HW you use is taken and applied to the central gas meter usage for the HW system in the basement. You should see this usage and calculations on your gas bill.
Gas for Fuel is metered in your unit and is connected with a data cable that goes back to a central metering system in the basement so it can be read easily by your supplier.
Your bill should contain both the gas used for your portion of the centralised HW system AND your usage of gas for cooking/heating in your unit. Any issues with your gas bill should be referred to your gas supplier.
Changing your gas fittings in your unit:
If you choose to change your gas cooktop for an electric one then you will need to organise and pay for your own authorised plumber and electrician to carry out this work.
You may also have the gas meter removed from your property if you choose. In this case you should contact your gas supplier or AGL to arrange this. They will not be able to remove the gas supply to your property - for that you must contact the Strata Manager to use the building's approved plumber.
Please note that it is forbidden for unlicensed persons to interfere with the gas supply or gas fittings. Please ensure that you only use registered, licensed plumbers (or any other tradesmen) at all times.
